Unit Name: Nutrition Department – Faculty (CM16)
Formation History: Established on July 14, 2000.
The Nutrition Department was established according to Decision No. 708/QĐ – HVQY on July 14, 2000, by the Director of the Military Medical Academy and officially started operating from May 5, 2001.
The Nutrition Department – Faculty (CM16) was established according to Decision No. 4630/QĐ – HVQY on December 21, 2017, by the Director of the Military Medical Academy. This decision was implemented based on the organizational structure 1441/BTTM of the Military Medical Academy, involving the merger of the Nutrition Department within the Logistics Department at Hospital 103 into the Nutrition Department (Hospital 103). The Nutrition Department – Faculty officially began its operations in October 2018.

Location: Room 02A28 – 2nd Floor, Medical Examination Department.
Opening time: Morning: 6:30 AM – 12:00 PM, Afternoon: 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM, weekdays from Monday to Friday.
Functions and Responsibilities:
– Training: Long-term multi-disciplinary military and civilian doctors, nursing graduates, specialized in clinical nutrition, guiding military and civilian lines in the field. Training PhDs in nutritional specialties and regulation.
– Scientific Research: Conducting or guiding research at various levels in the field of Nutrition and related areas.
– Treatment: Developing, providing, applying, and monitoring dietary regimes for patients undergoing treatment at the hospital. Diagnosing, advising, and treating nutrition-related illnesses.

Outstanding achievements
Training
The Department has developed a clinical nutrition program to train military and civil medical doctors;
It has also developed postgraduate training programs for those pursuing doctoral and master’s degrees, continuing education, bachelors of nutrition and dietetics;
From the 2002 – 2003 school year, the Department provided a number of training programs such as long-term military doctor classes from K33 course onwards, basic military doctor classes (termed as “location-based doctors A6a”) and civilian medical classes (termed as “civilian doctors 1 and junior doctors B7b”);
In December 2008, the textbook titled “Clinical Nutrition” was published, and in October 2017, the first edition was released by the People’s Army Publishing House intended for university training, and as a reference for medical professionals; the Department has provided 17 courses, with over 200 classes;
Since 2004, it has also provided support for 05 graduate students to successfully defend their doctoral theses as well as for 03 specialist doctors II and 01 member to pursue a Master’s degree;
Continuous training and preliminary specialized training courses in the field of nutritional moderation have also been provided for medical staff in a number of hospitals in the northern region;
It has been involved in training support for some units such as National Institute of Nutrition, Hanoi Medical University, Hai Duong University of Medical Technology, University of Public Health and Central Military Hospital 108, among others.
Profession and treatment
The Department has developed 55 diet plans, including those related to specific diseases for patients treated in hospitals and according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health. The software to manage the nutritional regimen of inpatients in the hospital has also been created for the facilitation of digital diet reports and at the same time; available regimens and active nutritional intervention regimens are designed when indicated;
The Department always coordinates closely with the Logistics – Technical Department, concerned divisions and clinical departments to ensure good patient nutrition, contributing to improving treatment quality. The nutritional regimens are prescribed for seriously ill patients who need separate nutritional regimens and special diets. It has also ensured good nutrition for patients with successful kidney transplants, liver transplants, heart transplants, lung transplants and multi-organ transplants;
Examination, assessment, treatment monitoring and nutritional advice for a number of patients have also been provided, including inpatients and outpatients before, during and after the treatment and intervention process; Patients coming to the outpatient clinic are also catered for.
Scientific research
Chairing 01 state-level project on nurturing burn patients (64D.04.02), which was accepted and graded as good;
Chairing over 10 grassroots-level projects that were accepted and graded as excellent and 03 branch projects of the State-level project;
Being involved in the “Organ Transplant Project Cluster”, a State-level project of the Vietnam Military Medical University;
Being involved in many scientific research topics with the Commissariat on nutrition for soldiers (KCB 02-02; KCB 02-05);
Developing a standard diet for patients in the military hospitals chaired by the Military Medical Department. The menus for a number of subjects and units have also been suggested, including those for football teams with members under 11 to 23 of Viettel Football Player Training Center, pilots of the Vietnam People’s Army, officers and workers working on rigs oil and gas drilling by Vietnam-Russia Joint Venture Vietsovpetro;
Combining teaching and patient care practices for scientific research to contribute to the improvement of professional qualifications in teaching and patient care;
The Department has already published over 80 articles in prestigious national scientific journals, including 05 publications in prestigious international specialized journals.
