2. History:
– Traditional Day of the Department: June 20th 1968
– Establishment background:  On June 20th 1968, the Chemistry Faculty was established and under the supervision of the Department of Social Sciences headed by Dean Lê Ngọc Bích. In December, 1970, the Chemistry Faculty was separated from this Department to establish its own existence as the Department of Chemistry. At the end of 1983, it was merged into the Department of Chemistry and Biology (K51), also known as the Department of Chemistry – Biochemistry. In 1988, upon separation it was re-established as the Faculty of Chemistry (K82). On December 22nd 2017, it was renamed as the Department of Chemistry (K82).
3. Missions and Roles:
3.1. Missions:
The Department conducts teaching and scientific research in chemistry and related disciplines; it is also under the command and supervision of the Party Committee, VMMU’s Board of Directors as well as receives professional guidance from the specialized divisions. The Department commands and manages all the staff members under its authority according to regulations of the Army and VMMU.
3.2. Roles:
1. a) organizes the development and evaluation of programs for subjects in training disciplines and submit to the Director for approval; be responsible for designing lectures, textbooks, and teaching materials within the scope of its responsibility.
2. b) collaborates with various specialized divisions to design plans and execute assigned training schemes.
3. c) develops and implements plans for pedagogical practices as well as provides training for all the lecturers and technicians; supervises all the staff members in their adherence to regulations related to training and education.
4. d) suggests innovations in exam evaluation and organization, testing based on credits and modules within its scope of responsibility; assesses and classifies the performances and levels of students according to the regulations.
5. đ) proposes research directions as well as organizes and conducts scientific and technological activities
6. e) inspects and evaluates the results of implementation of training plans, scientific research and assigned tasks of lecturers.
7. f) closely examines and efficiently uses the provided equipment and facilities for purposes of teaching, learning and scientific research.
8. g) complete other tasks related to teaching and scientific research if assigned (participation in various contests, Army games and the Chemistry Olympiads, among others).
9. h) strives to establish the Party Cell as a comprehensively strong and exemplary unit; be willing to accept and accomplish all assigned tasks and responsibilities.

7.1. Missions: Contribute to the training of high-quality medical human resources and scientific research associated with medicine, pharmacy as well as provide guidance for the Chemistry Olympiad teams.
7.2. Vision: Strive to become a leading department in training and teaching innovations in connection between chemistry and aspects of life. The Department also plays an important role in its contributions to the establishment of VMMU as a leading multidisciplinary health sciences university in Vietnam.
