Function
The Department of Rheumatology and Endocrinology, under the direct command of the Board of Directors of Military Hospital 103 and the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Military Medical University, has the function of performing the tasks of training, treatment and scientific research in the fields of Muscle – Bone – Joint, Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Mission
The Department of Rheumatology and Endocrinology performs 3 main tasks:
– Training general practitioners, specialists, master and doctorate students in the fields of Muscle – Bone – Joint, Endocrine and Metabolism.
– Ensuring a full range of diseases to serve the training, treatment and management of inpatients and outpatients with internal diseases in the Muscle – Bone – Joint, Endocrine and Metabolic specialties.
– Carry out scientific research projects in the fields of Muscle – Bone – Joint, Endocrinology and Metabolism, to improve the quality of training and treatment.
Professional activities
– Teaching general practitioners, specialists, master and doctorate students in the fields of Muscle – Bone – Joint, Endocrine and Metabolism.
– Carrying out scientific research projects at all levels (grassroots, province/city, state and international cooperation).
– Organizing scientific activities to update specialized knowledge for lecturers, doctors and students of the Department.
Key techniques
– Ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases.
– Creation of platelet-rich plasma in treating knee osteoarthritis.
– Using autologous adipose tissue stem cells in treating knee osteoarthritis.
– Using biological drugs in autoimmune joint diseases.
– Selecting and preparing patients for simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation in treating diabetes with kidney failure.
– Treatment of thyroid cysts by the aspiration and injection of Absolute Ethanol under ultrasound guidance.
– Injecting benign thyroid tumors with absolute Ethanol under ultrasound guidance.
– Abdominal liposuction under ultrasound guidance.
Achievements
– 2014: Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.
– 2021: Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of National Defense.
