4. Functions and duties:
– Education: train Doctor of Medicine, Master of Internal Medicine, Master of Respiratory Medicine, Level I, II Specialist in Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, General Practitioner, Bachelor of Nursing, specializing in Respiratory Endoscopy Diagnosis and Treatment; command military and civillian medical personnels of various levels; conduct continuous training in the field of respiratory medicine for various medical professionals.
– Treatment: provide examination, consultation, and treatment of military personnel and civilians with specialized respiratory conditions; implement advanced techniques in respiratory diagnosis and treatment; detect, manage, and treat tuberculosis, including drug-resistant cases, following the National Tuberculosis Control Programme.
– Scientific research: lead and participate in research projects at various levels. Conduct international collaboration in respiratory research and the transfer of specialized respiratory techniques.
5. Pivotal techniques:
*Diagnostic techniques:
– Diagnostic endoscopy techniques: narrow-band imaging brochoscopy, convex probe endobronchial ultrasound with early diagnosis of lung cancer and mediastinal diseases; rigid bronchoscopy for diagnosis of pleural diseases.
– Body plethysmography, gas diffusion measurements for diagnosing and monitoring respiratory conditions (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung bullae, etc.) and interstitial lung diseases (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, pneumoconiosis, etc.).
– Pulmonary and pleural biopsy techniques guided by computed tomography, ultrasound.
– Molecular biology and immunological techniques in diagnosing respiratory infections, cancer (PCR, RT-PCR, Genxpet, NK cell activity, PD-L1, etc.).
* Treatment techniques:
– New bronchoscopic treatments: unidirectional endobronchial valve placement for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, placement of silicone airway stents for central airway stenosis, laser resection for airway stenosis, endoscopic blood patching, bronchoalveolar lavage for lung conditions such as pneumoconiosis and chemical-induced pneumonia.
– Pleurodesis through video-assisted thoracoscopy for malignant pleural effusion.
– Allogeneic stem cell transplantation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
– Bronchial artery embolization for severe hemoptysis and advanced-stage lung cancer.
– Targeted, chemical, and immunotherapy for lung cancer.
– Patient selection, consultation for lung transplantation, and post-transplant care.
– Drug-resistant tuberculosis treatment.
