–  Scientific research: Conduct or guide topics at all levels in the field of Biochemistry and related fields.
–  Testing: Ensuring Biochemical testing for clinical service.

Pivotal techniques:
– Common biochemical tests and most in-depth biochemical tests on glucose, lipid, and protein metabolism in the human body; kidney – urine, liver and biliary tests, cardiomyopathy; quantify the concentration of trace elements, electrolytes and blood gases.
-Immunoassay:
+Cancer markers (lung cancer Cyffra 211, PRO-GRP, SCC; liver cancer AFP; gastrointestinal cancer CEA, CA199; uterine ovarian cancer CA125, HE4; gastric cancer pepsinogen I, pepsinogen II …).
+ Quantify hormone levels: FT3, FT4, TSH, insulin, cortisol…

Achievements
Testing for treatment
The Faculty – Department of Biochemistry – Military Hospital 103 is the first unit in the Army to be recognized as meeting ISO 15189 standards. The Faculty receives thousands of patient samples daily with tens of thousands of biochemical tests; always ensure accurate, reliable and timely test results.
Carrying out routine and in-depth biochemical tests on substrates, enzymes, blood gases, acid-base balance and electrolytes in blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid and other fluids.
Training
Graduated training:
Until 2020, the Department has participated in teaching Biochemistry for 55 general doctor courses, 17 pharmacist courses, 5 bachelor’s laboratory courses, 18 specialized doctors and 14 junior doctor courses.
Post-graduated training:
The Department has participated in training 18 Master’s courses, 25 level I specialist courses and 25 level II specialist courses in Biochemistry. At the same time, The Department has participated in teaching Biochemistry for many graduate classes in related majors such as heart, kidney, joints, endocrinology, digestion, infectious diseases…; having guided many graduate students to defend their doctoral dissertations successfully.
Scientific research
Participating in many State level and Ministry of Defense level projects in different fields:
– Organ transplant topics: Kidney transplant, liver transplant, heart transplant, lung transplant, multi-organ transplant in experimental animals and humans.
–Doing research on biomarkers and new biochemical tests in disease diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
– Research on stem cells that serves medicine.
