– The Department regularly accepts 80-85 patients for inpatient treatment in the Department. Each year, the Department treats over 2,700 patients and performs 2,000 surgeries.
High technology in treatment currently accounts for the majority of surgeries at the Department, many of which are on par with similar hospitals in the country or in the region:
– Small tunnel percutaneous lithotripsy treats kidney stones and upper urinary tract stones, and endoscopic retrograde lithotripsy are the two first-line advanced techniques for treating urolithiasis. Currently at the Department, only about 5-10% of urinary stone patients admitted to the hospital need open surgery. This rate has reached the level of the region.
– The Department has been the leading facility in the country since 2013, using bipolar excision and tissue vaporization techniques in the treatment of benign prostate prolapse, and has completed a state-level scientific research on the technique since 2015. The Ministry of Health awarded the Department with 2 certificates of merit for implementing bipolar excision and vaporization techniques for the treatment of benign prostate proliferation in 2014.
– Kidney transplant techniques are regularly performed by the Department with 6-8 pairs of transplants per week, reaching the milestone of over 1,000 kidney transplant cases. Currently, 90% of kidney transplant techniques from living donors are performed through laparoscopic surgery instead of previous open surgery. In addition, the Department also transferred transplant surgery techniques to Saint Pault Hospital and Thai Nguyen General Hospital.
