2. History of the unit:
On November 15th, 1966, the Ministry of National Defence decided to establish the Pharmacy Branch within the Military Medical University. The Pharmacy Branch was initially located in Xuân Dương village, Vạn Phúcc Commune, and Đông Mỹ commune, Thanh Trì district, Hanoi. Its precursor was the Agency of University Pharmacy (established in November 1949) under the Việt Bắc Medical University, and later the Military Pharmacy School (founded in July 1950). November 15th, 1966, was officially recognized as the traditional day of this unit according to Decision No. 241/QĐ-HVQY dated January 22nd, 2010, by the Commissar of the Vietnam Military Medical University.
In 1981, to enhance the skills of pharmacy personnel in the military, the Ministry of National Defence allowed the Vietnam Military Medical University to establish specialized pharmacy courses. The Faculty of Military Pharmacy – Military Medical Supply (K45) was founded on September 3rd, 1981.
On August 10, 1985, the Vietnam Military Medical University decided to establish the Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Military Medical Supply by merging K45 and Laboratory No. 5 (designated as K85). In 1993, the Faculty was assigned the task of training doctoral and master’s degree students in pharmacy by the Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of National Defence, and the Vietnam Military Medical University.
Since 1997, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of National Defence decided that the Vietnam Military Medical University would continue to train undergraduate pharmacists after more than 20 years of interruption. In 1998, the Ministry of National Defence issued Decision No. 363/QĐ to establish the Faculty of Military Pharmacy based on the Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Military Medical Supply.
On August 21st, 2006, the Ministry of National Defence issued Decision No. 140/2006 to establish the Pharmaceutical Training and Research Center based on the Faculty of Military Pharmacy at the Vietnam Military Medical University.
On March 10th, 2018, following Decision No. 4630/QĐ-HVQY dated December 21st, 2017, by the Director of the Vietnam Military Medical University (based on Decision No. 1441/QĐ-TM dated September 26th, 2017, by the Chief of the General Staff regarding the organization and staffing chart of the Vietnam Military Medical University), the the Pharmaceutical Training and Research Center was upgraded to the Institute of Pharmacy Training.
3. Functions and duties:
The Institute of Pharmacy Training is a unit under the Vietnam Military Medical University, with the function of organizing and carrying out teaching and scientific research tasks in the field of Pharmacy, Military Pharmacy, and related specialties. The command, management of the unit, its officers, and employees fall under the authority and are subject to the regulations of the State, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Vietnam Military Medical University regarding the management of learners.
The Institute of Pharmacy Training performs the following tasks:
1. Develop and approve programs and subject content for the training specialization; compile textbooks, lectures, and teaching materials within its scope of responsibility.
2. Collaborate with relevant agencies to develop, organize, implement, inspect, and assess the results of the training plan.
3. Develop and implement a plan for training, improving the methodology of lecturers and staff in the Institute; manage the staff of officers, lecturers, and employees in strict compliance with regulations on education and training.
4. Propose innovative methods for assessing and organizing credit, course, and graduation examinations managed by the Institute; participate in the assessment and classification of learner quality as stipulated.
5. Propose research directions and organize the implementation of scientific and technological activities.
6. Efficiently manage the material facilities and equipment of the unit.
7. Build a clear, exemplary, and comprehensively strong Party organization “Model, Exemplary.”
8. Perform other assigned tasks.
