Department-Centre of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Military Hospital 103: Celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Traditional Day and receiving the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense

On May 17, the Department – Centre of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Military Hospital 103 (VMMU) held a meeting to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Department – Centre (May 19, 1959 – 19 May, 2024) and received the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense.

Overview of the Celebration

During the past 65 years, the Department – Centre of Hematology and Blood Transfusion has achieved many significant achievements. Currently, the Centre’s laboratory has achieved ISO 15189 certification, which is the highest standard for quality and capacity of national laboratories. On average, each year, about 400,000 patients are tested with a total of about 1.3 million tests. Each year, 22-25 voluntary blood donations are organized, collecting about 10,000 units of blood. Preparation and production of red blood cells, platelets, fresh plasma, frozen plasma for timely and safe treatment. Participated in successfully performing more than 1,500 kidney transplants, 2 liver transplants, 2 heart transplants, 1 simultaneous pancreas-kidney multi-organ transplant, and 1 lung transplant from a living person for the first time in Vietnam.In particular, the Centre has also conducted many scientific studies and applied new techniques in treatment and patient care. These achievements not only contribute to improving the quality of medical services but also contribute to the development of hematology and blood transfusion in the Army and the country.Promoting the tradition of 65 years of construction and growth, generations of officers and staff of the Department – Centre of Hematology and Blood Transfusion constantly practice medical ethics, improve professional expertise, and are always united and determined to build a strong unit.

Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of VMMU, believed that the officers and staff of the Department – Centre of Hematology and Blood Transfusion are always united, unanimous, and excited in striving to improve professional qualifications, foreign languages, cultivate medical ethics, maintain the qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, and build an increasingly stronger unit. At the same time, he emphasized that the Centre needs to continue to improve processes, improve service quality and patient care. The application of advanced techniques and new technology in hematology and blood transfusion is necessary to meet the increasing needs of society; Actively participate in scientific research projects, and expand cooperation with organizations and hematology and blood transfusion research centers at home and abroad; Training and fostering a team of medical staff with high professional qualifications, good skills and strong professional ethics continues to reap many successes and makes an important contribution to the cause of caring and protecting the health of soldiers and people.
