On July 21, the Vietnam Military Medical University, in coordination with the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Duong Commune, Bac Ninh Province, organized a program offering free medical examinations, health consultations, medicines, gifts, and the presentation of a “Gratitude House” and a “Great National Unity House” to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged families in the locality.

The program was held in celebration of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2026), demonstrating the Vietnamese tradition of “Remembering the Source While Drinking Water” and “Repaying Those Who Have Served the Nation,” as well as the profound gratitude of the University’s officers, Vietnam Military medical personnel and healthcare professionals toward policy beneficiary families and people who rendered meritorious service to the revolution.

During the event, more than 40 highly qualified doctors, pharmacists and medical technicians from the Vietnam Military Medical University directly provided medical examinations, health consultations and free medicines to approximately 350 policy beneficiaries, disadvantaged residents and local people in Nam Duong Commune.

For patients requiring specialized treatment, the University’s doctors provided detailed consultations and guidance, helping them continue treatment at appropriate healthcare facilities while ensuring that they fully enjoy the benefits prescribed by current regulations.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Military Medical University presented 30 gift packages to 20 policy beneficiary families and families with meritorious service to the revolution, as well as 10 disadvantaged households in the commune.

On the same day, in cooperation with the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Duong Commune, the University inaugurated and handed over a “Great National Unity House” to the family of Mr. Ngo Van Tai in Nam Son Hamlet and a “Gratitude House” to the family of Mr. Than Van Mien in Nam Dien Hamlet.

The “Gratitude House” is a particularly meaningful project within the University’s “Repaying Those Who Have Served the Nation” activities. It was presented to the family of Mr. Than Van Mien, a former resistance fighter affected by Agent Orange/dioxin, contributing to improving the family’s living conditions and easing their hardships. The project also reflects the close coordination between the Vietnam Military Medical University and local authorities in implementing the Party’s and the State’s policies on caring for policy beneficiaries.

Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Nam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Military Medical University, emphasized that alongside fulfilling its core political missions, the University has always regarded “Repaying Those Who Have Served the Nation” and “Remembering the Source While Drinking Water” as meaningful and practical activities. These activities not only contribute to caring for people who rendered meritorious service to the country but also educate the University’s officers, staff, cadets, soldiers and employees about compassion and appreciation for the noble sacrifices made by heroes, martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids and sick soldiers who devoted themselves to the struggles for national independence, reunification and the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Accordingly, every year the Vietnam Military Medical University dispatches medical teams to provide free medical examinations, health consultations and medicines to thousands of policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged households in remote and mountainous areas across provinces such as Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh.

In 2026, in celebration of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day and in implementing the Party’s, the State’s and the Army’s policies, the Vietnam Military Medical University has carried out numerous meaningful gratitude activities. Since the beginning of the year, the University has supported the construction of three Gratitude Houses, five Great National Unity Houses and one “100-Dong House”; organized eight medical outreach missions providing examinations, health consultations and medicines to more than 2,900 people; and presented 517 gift packages to policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged households.

“Although these contributions are modest compared with the immense sacrifices, losses and hardships endured by war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs’ families and people who rendered meritorious service to the revolution, they are practical actions that embody the Vietnamese traditions of ‘Remembering the Source While Drinking Water’ and ‘Repaying Those Who Have Served the Nation.’ They represent the gratitude of the Party, the State, the Army and, in particular, the officers, staff, cadets, soldiers and employees of the Vietnam Military Medical University toward heroes, martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers and people who have contributed to the revolutionary cause.

“Through these activities, we help strengthen the people’s confidence in the Party, the State and the Army, while educating younger generations to foster patriotism, uphold revolutionary traditions and continue the legacy of previous generations in the country’s new era of development,” Major General Nguyen Van Nam said.
