MILITARY CARDIOVASCULAR GROUP: IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE TREATMENT IN MILITARY HOSPITALS

On the morning of January 13, the Vietnam Military Medical University (VMMU), in collaboration with the Military Cardiology Group, organized a scientific conference on cardiology with the topic “Update on the diagnosis and management of vascular diseases.” This is a scientific conference of very special significance, aiming to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the VMMU (March 10th, 1949 / March 10th, 2024) and the 10th Anniversary of Military Cardiology Group, (April 5th, 2014 / April 5th, 2024).

The conference attracted leading cardiovascular experts from hospitals across the country. It is also an opportunity for doctors to update their specialized knowledge in cardiology through continuous medical training sessions while enhancing exchanges and sharing experiences with leading experts on new techniques, difficult clinical cases, and highly applicable research in the field of cardiology. This contributes to promoting scientific research, training cooperation, and transferring cardiovascular treatment techniques between military hospitals to improve the quality of treatment and health care for soldiers and personnel.

At the conference, Lieutenant General, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien – Director of the VMMU, emphasized: The formation and development of the Military Cardiology Group demonstrate the growth of the cardiovascular specialty and its urgent need for cooperation between levels in training, treatment, and scientific research in the military. After 10 years of operation, the Military Cardiology Group has effectively helped transfer techniques, provided continuous training, and coordinated treatment across cardiovascular departments/centers/institutes in military hospitals, improving the quality of diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases for soldiers and people. This contributes to closely linking military cardiologists with each other and with other related specialties. The Group’s model is truly a model for other specialties in the military to refer to.

Speaking at the conference, Colonel, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Vu Dien Bien – Head of the Military Cardiology Group shared: In the past 10 years, the Military Cardiology Group has organized 15 scientific conferences on cardiology. This is an annual activity of great significance to create a space for discussion, exchange, and updating new knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, thereby improving the effectiveness of medical examination and treatment for patients. At this scientific conference, we will hear 12 updated scientific reports on the diagnosis and treatment of aortic disease, peripheral artery disease, right arterial hypertension, and fibrolytic treatment strategies for thrombosis in acute pulmonary artery occlusion, lower extremity venous insufficiency by leading reporters from Hospitals: Military Central Hospital 108, Military Hospital 103, Military Hospital 354, Military Hospital 105, Military Hospital 110. Particularly, this conference will feature a reporter from the Philippine Heart Center demonstrating simultaneously a clinical case of direct intervention for patients with complicated lower extremity arteries.
