In 2023, the Emulation Movement for Determined Victory at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Vietnam Military Medical University (VMMU), has created a driving force to motivate officers, lecturers, and staff to overcome difficulties and strive to excellently fulfill their educational, training, and scientific research tasks, contributing to building a comprehensively strong and exemplary unit.

According to Colonel Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, in 2023, the faculty carried out its tasks under the close and regular attention and direction of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of VMMU. Some lecturers continued their studies, participated in the United Nations peacekeeping forces, and taught English at the Vietnam Peacekeeping Center. With a spirit of solidarity, positivity, proactiveness, and creativity, the faculty’s staff and lecturers always overcame difficulties to excellently complete their tasks.

A highlight in training is that 100% of the staff and lecturers ensured good classroom hours with complete lesson plans, teaching plans, and monitoring books. The lecturers adhered to the examination regulations well in both invigilation and marking. The development of training programs was ensured to follow guidelines, requirements, and progress. In 2023, the faculty completed two programs for master’s and specialist level 2 students with output standards equivalent to B2 according to the six-level competency framework for Vietnam.

In scientific research, the faculty maintained a good level of participation with a target of registering three research projects per year, actively guiding student research, and publishing scientific works on teaching methods and language. They actively participated in master’s thesis defense councils and guided master’s theses on language to improve research capacity. In 2023, the faculty guided five master’s theses in English language studies, with three successfully defended.

Prominent figures in the Faculty’s Emulation Movement for Determined Victory include Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Kim Luyen. In the 2022-2023 academic year, she led one University-level project: “Research on the Use of Blended Learning Methods in Developing English Skills for Military Medical Cadets at Vietnam Military Medical University”; co-authored an international paper; and achieved the title of Excellent Lecturer at the University for many consecutive years. Another notable figure is Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, an English lecturer, recognized as an outstanding young face in teaching and scientific research. To date, she has led one research project, participated in four University-level projects, and one project at the Ministry of National Defense level. She has also trained the University’s English Olympic team for many years, achieving high results in national and military-wide Olympic competitions.

Colonel Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai attributes these achievements to the effective leadership, direction, and organization of the Emulation Movement for Determined Victory by the Faculty’s Party Committee and Command. The emulation activities always closely followed the unit’s political tasks. After launching the movement, the faculty focused on good preparation; maintaining education, training, and scientific research; strictly adhering to command and duty regimes to enhance quality in building regularity and discipline management; ensuring absolute safety in all aspects. Concurrently, they increased the participation of lecturers in training and professional development courses, actively participating in national and international seminars with good results, contributing to the outstanding completion of tasks by the Party cell and building a comprehensively strong and exemplary Faculty.

In the future, the Faculty of Foreign Languages aims to closely combine regular emulation with peak emulation, linked to the successful fulfillment of the unit’s political tasks and the implementation of the movement “Promoting Tradition, Devoting Talent, Worthy of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers.” They will strictly adhere to the principles and regulations on emulation and commendation within the University, conduct good preliminary and final reviews, commend and promptly recommend rewards for exemplary individuals and collectives, contributing to building a clean and strong Party cell and a comprehensively strong and exemplary Faculty.
