The 1st Annual Military Medical Science Conference

On March 7, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Military Medical university (VMMU) (Vietnam Ministry of National Defense) and the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy (Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation) co-hosted the 1st Annual Military Medical Science Conference.

Attending the conference were Lieutenant General, Prof., Dr. Tran Viet Tien, Director of VMMU; Lieutenant General, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Prof., Sc.D. Evgeny Vladimirovich Kryukov, Director of the Kirov Military Medical Academy. Also in attendance were representatives from agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense, scientists, experts in military medicine, and presenters from both academies.

The 1st Annual Military Medical Science Conference was agreed to be held annually from 2025 by the heads of the Ministries of National Defense of both countries and the leadership of the two academies. The conference aims to promote scientific research cooperation and experience exchange in military medicine, particularly in emergency care, battlefield trauma treatment, disaster medicine, infectious diseases, and health issues specific to the military. This event not only provides an opportunity to update the latest scientific advancements but also serves as a vital bridge to strengthen the long-standing cooperation between the two academies, contributing to the development of each country’s military medicine. 

Lieutenant General, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Prof., Sc.D. Evgeny Vladimirovich Kryukov, Director of the Kirov Military Medical Academy, delivered a speech at the conference. 
The conference was attended by scientists and experts in the field of military medicine.

The conference brought together numerous leading scientists and experts from the Military Medical Universities of Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Fourteen scientific reports were presented, covering areas such as military medical support in combat and the research and application of advanced technologies to improve healthcare and treatment for wounded and sick soldiers.

In his opening speech, Lieutenant General, Prof., Dr. Tran Viet Tien, Director of VMMU, emphasized that the theme of the 1st Annual Military Medical Science Conference in 2025, “Research and Application of Modern Medical Technology in Emergency Care and Treatment for Wounded and Sick Soldiers,” holds significant practical value. Amidst global instability, new challenges related to high-tech warfare, natural disasters, and epidemics are posing urgent demands on military medicine. Therefore, the application of scientific and technological advances in emergency care and treatment not only enhances treatment effectiveness but also strengthens combat readiness and protects the health of the armed forces.

Lieutenant General, Prof., Dr. Tran Viet Tien expressed his hope that the Annual Military Medical Science Conference would become a significant academic forum for scientists and experts to exchange the latest research achievements in military medicine, particularly in emergency care and treatment for wounded and sick soldiers, contributing to elevating military medical cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation to new heights.
