On January 19, in Vientiane (Laos), Vietnam Military Medical University and Lao Military Medical Academy held a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Cooperation. Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of Vietnam Military Medical University and Major General, Dr. Chansamone Mahavong, Director of Lao Military Medical Academy co-chaired the ceremony.

Attending the signing ceremony were Major General Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Director of Vietnam Military Medical University; Major General Khampheng Phummakeo, Director of the Military Medical Department of the Lao People’s Army and representatives of the authorities of the two Academies.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien affirmed: Vietnam Military Medical University and Lao Military Medical Academy are two prestigious training and scientific research centers of the Army and two Vietnam and Laos; has made great contributions in the fields of science and medicine of the two countries.

Strengthening cooperation between the two Academies will contribute to cultivating and strengthening the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between the two armies in particular, and is an important basis for building two Academies. The institutes become leading universities in the field of health education; training high-quality medical and pharmaceutical human resources to perform medical examination and treatment tasks for the military and people of the two countries; Effectively serving the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland, developing the Military Medicine industry, the health sector and the health education system of Vietnam and Laos.

At the ceremony, the two sides agreed and agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with the basic contents: Deploying the contents according to the annual cooperation plan of the two countries’ Ministries of Defense on training military personnel. medical for the Lao People’s Army; sending Vietnamese experts to Laos to support training; organize supplementary classes, training and teacher training; receive short-term training for officers, lecturers, and technicians of the Lao Military Medical Academy; Short-term training in clinical practice at hospitals and institutes under the Vietnam Military Medical University ; Organize the inter-university scientific conference of Vietnam Military Medical  University – Lao Military Medical Academy every two years; Cooperate in implementing scientific research projects in the field of military medicine, ensuring military medicine and basic medicine according to the principles of military diplomacy between the two countries.
