Vietnam Military Medical University: More than 1,500 Cadets Participate in the “Healthy and Skillful Cadets” Competition
On the morning of May 23, Vietnam Military Medical University held the “Healthy and Skillful Cadets” Competition.
Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Nam, Deputy Political Commissar of the university, attended and delivered a keynote address at the event. Representatives from the Military Youth Board under the General Department of Politics, leaders and commanders of departments, faculties, divisions, cadet management units, together with 1,550 officers, Youth Union members, young people, and cadets of the university, were also present.

Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Nam, Deputy Political Commissar of Vietnam Military Medical University, delivered the opening remarks at the competition.
In his opening remarks, Major General Nguyễn Văn Nam emphasized that the “Healthy and Skillful Cadets” Competition reflects the high quality of physical training and the close integration of academic study and practical training among military medical cadets at the university in recent years. The competition also serves as a meaningful platform for cadets from different cohorts to exchange experiences, learn from one another, and strengthen solidarity and mutual support throughout their studies.
The event further promotes both academic excellence and physical fitness among cadets, meeting the evolving requirements and missions of the university and the military in the new era. Through such activities, the university aims to successfully fulfill all assigned tasks while continuing to develop into a more disciplined, exemplary, and model institution.

Major General Nguyễn Văn Nam also called on the Organizing Committee, Jury Board, and Referee Team to ensure fairness, objectivity, and accuracy in scoring and evaluating the results, thereby contributing to the overall success of the competition.
This year’s competition brought together six teams with 42 outstanding contestants selected from grassroots-level rounds. The teams competed in three categories: First, Healthy Events: 100-meter relay race, 50-meter sack relay race, and pull-ups on a horizontal bar. Second, Skillful Events: sterile surgical glove techniques, incision practice on silicone models, transferring plastic beads into glass tubes, and suturing techniques on silicone models. Finally, Combined Events: changing military uniforms, obstacle-course challenges, bandaging wounded soldiers, and transporting injured soldiers either by stretcher or by carrying them on the back.
All events were organized and evaluated based on both technical performance and completion time, ensuring fairness, safety, and efficiency.
