Vietnam Military Medical University organises Political-Military Conference 2023

On January 11th, the Vietnam Military Medical University organized its 2023 Political-Military Conference. Lieutenant General Nguyễn Xuân Kiên, Director of the Vietnam Military Medical University, presided over the conference. Also in attendance was Major General Nghiêm Đức Thuận, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Military Medical University.

In 2023, the Vietnam Military Medical University rigorously implemented the resolutions and directives of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defence, focusing on leadership and direction to diligently fulfill and accomplish its tasks.
Notably, the Vietnam Military Medical University successfully completed its training programs for various courses with improved quality; the curriculum and contents were adjusted and supplemented with numerous innovations; the student recruitment process was conducted strictly, and the examination and quality management of education and training were maintained effectively and orderly; the development and training of lecturers were emphasized; examination setting and grading for various candidates ensured safety, timeliness, and transparency. The management of scientific research projects was comprehensively strengthened; international cooperation tasks were well executed. Strict discipline and regularity in institutional building were maintained; ensuring compliance with the law in basic construction investment and equipment procurement.

Specifically, the University revised the names and syllabi of 17 modules (basic science, basic medicine), and adjusted the integrated military medical training program, developed 78 outcome standards for master’s and doctoral training programs, and 13 continuous training programs in advanced military medical techniques, completed a project to open a preventive medicine training program, established regulations for undergraduate military education, and set rules for organizing direct thesis and dissertation defenses at the University. It also organized safe internships for students.

The University held a graduation ceremony and awarded degrees to 771 cadets, students, compiled a list of 453 research topics for postgraduate training, organized the compilation of lectures and textbooks for the 17 modules, and updated textbooks that were not revised in the past 5-10 years, officially approved and established the foundation for reference materials and products of 77 topics and tasks.
In addition, last year, the hospitals and institutes under the Vietnam Military Medical University successfully carried out patient admission, emergency care, and treatment, with over 689,000 medical examinations and more than 75,000 hospital admissions; nearly 25,000 surgical operations were performed, including 174 kidney transplants, with bed utilization rates exceeding 100%.

Notably, Military Hospital 103 completed its application to the Ministry of Health for recognition as a qualified organ transplant facility and finalized the technical procedures for liver transplants from living donors. The Lê Hữu Trác National Burn Hospital conducted a survey on the medical response capabilities to natural disasters of military medical units nationwide. The Military Institute of Clinical Embryology and Histology implemented independent accounting in its treatment operations. The Nam Yết Island Clinic in Trường Sa District excellently fulfilled its duties in examining and treating soldiers and local residents.
