On the morning of April 3, 2024, in Hanoi, Vietnam Military Medical University organized the 14th Scientific Conference for Postgraduate Students. The conference is an annual scientific activity aimed at evaluating the scientific research of postgraduate students, thereby promoting the progress of learning and research of dissertation topics; contributing to improving the quality of doctoral training at the Academy.

Attending the conference were the comrades: Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of Vietnam Military Medical University; Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nghiem Duc Thuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of Vietnam Military Medical University. Also attending the conference were comrades in the Party Committee, the Academy’s Board of Directors; delegate leaders from agencies within and outside the Academy; and postgraduate students currently who are conducting research projects at the academy.

According to the report, Vietnam Military Medical University has so far trained 1,275 Ph.D. holders, of which many dissertations have high scientific and practical significance, have published results in prestigious international journals, meeting the increasing requirements on the quality of doctoral training. The Ph.D. graduates trained at the academy are currently working in all regions of the country, in all areas of the healthcare sector, with many holding leadership positions in the industry, hospitals, agencies, and units both within and outside the army. In 2023, Vietnam Military Medical University trained 50 Ph.D. students. These achievements affirm the effective efforts of both teachers and students at Vietnam Military Medical University in doctoral training; and the growth of the Ph.D. team after studying and researching at the academy.

At this conference, postgraduate students presented 36 scientific reports across various fields: internal medicine, surgery, biomedical sciences, healthcare management, pharmaceutical management and technology, and drug formulation… with 5 specialized councils evaluating these presentations, led by 36 experienced scientists in their research areas. All 36 reports were approved, revised, and approved by the Department for reporting at the scientific conference.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien emphasized: the 14th Scientific Conference for Postgraduate Students is a significant activity in the doctoral training process, not only for postgraduate students of the academy but also for all scientists and departments within the academy. The evaluation and summarization into scientific articles provide an opportunity for each postgraduate student, department staff, faculty, and lecturers who are doing postgraduate training to have the opportunity to evaluate their work results over the past time. The scientific conference also helps postgraduate students improve their presentation skills, synthesis, and scientific thinking in research; addressing and promptly solving existing issues, and better executing their research content.

Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien hopes that postgraduate students will make their utmost effort and focus intensely on their research to complete their coursework and dissertation content with the highest quality and effectiveness.
