On the morning of June 9, in Hanoi, Vietnam Military Medical University (hereafter VMMU) held a Scientific Research Student Conference in 2024. Lieutenant General Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of VMMU chaired the conference. Attending the conference were Major General Associate Professor, Dr. Nghiem Duc Thuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of VMMU, the comrades in the Party Committee, and VMMU’s Board of Directors, among others.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Kien emphasized that scientific research activities of youth, including trainees, are an annual and regular activity of VMMU with the purpose of providing more comprehensive training for students. In addition to the planned main training program, scientific research activities also help students expand their knowledge and skills in presentation methods and writing scientific reports as well as improving the professional capacity of doctors and lecturers.

In recent years, the scientific research movement of VMMU’s youth has deepened in capacity and effectiveness. In 2023, VMMU’s youth participated in science awards from ministries and branches nationwide and won many high prizes. Typically, VMMU and Military Hospital 103 were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of Health for their outstanding achievements in participating in the 24th Military Creative Youth Award, winning 2 first prizes and 1 second prize, 3 third prizes and 6 consolation prizes. Upon participation in National Scientific Research Student Award, VMMU won 1 first prize, 1 second prize and 3 third prizes. Moreover, VMMU was also awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training. Congratulations on the achievements that students have had over the past year, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Kien also applauded the departments and faculties for their efforts in guiding scientific research for the youth.

At this conference, the students presented 84 reports in various majors. To achieve the best outcomes for the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Kien requested that officials and lecturers continue to enthusiastically contribute ideas and improve students’ skills and scientific research methods. From this, all the departments and faculties draw experiences and continue to improve the quality of scientific research for young people in VMMU. All the practitioners and students, in addition to the basic knowledge acquired in class, need to access new scientific research, new technology, and expand their knowledge to not only become doctors but also scientific researchers contributing to the medical cause.
