The 2024 “Fit and Skillful Cadets” Contest at the Vietnam Military Medical University aims to assess the physical training quality of cadets during their education and training at the University. The contest creates a joyful and exciting playground for students and cadets. It also provides an opportunity for cadets to interact, learn from each other, and hone their “fit and skillful” qualities. Through this event, the University promotes the movement of studying and physical training among officers, employees, cadets, and soldiers to meet the University’s requirements and tasks in the new phase; the competition also serves as an activity to achieve outstanding results in celebration of the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890-May 19, 2024).

Participants in the 2024 “Fit and Skillful Cadets” Contest competed in three main events: the Strength test, the Skill test, and the Combined test. In the Strength test, the teams participated in events such as the 100m relay race for both men and women, the 50m sack jumping relay for men and women, and the men’s single bar arm curl. For the Skill test, teams performed tasks like donning sterile surgical gloves; cutting and incising on a silicone model; placing plastic beads into a test tube using forceps; and suturing and tying on a silicone model. The Combined test involved changing military uniforms; overcoming low hurdles/balance beam; bandaging wounds: wrapping a head with a bandage/securing a splint on a leg; and casualty evacuation: carrying a wounded soldier/transporting by stretcher.
