A Passionate Female Military Doctor and Researcher
Lieutenant Specialist Level II Colonel Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai has made significant contributions to the medical field through her dedication to practical scientific research. Her work has consistently demonstrated a strong focus on real-world applications.
Dr. Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai was born in 1977 in Ninh Binh province. She is currently working at the Drug research and manufacture Center of Vietnam Military Medical University (VMMU). This center specializes in applied research to develop products for the healthcare of soldiers and the people. From a young age, witnessing the silent but glorious work of her father, a military doctor, she aspired to become her father’s colleague. Tuyet Mai started her training at VMMU at the age of 29 and was always proud to study and train at the very school her father had attended. Although she has a small child and her husband is also a soldier and often goes on long business trips, she still arranges her time to complete the training program. With the support of her family, Tuyet Mai successfully completed her studies, becoming an excellent traditional medicine doctor and continuing her training to become a Specialist Level I and Level II.

Lieutenant Colonel, Specialist Doctor Level II Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai introduced the products of VMMU to the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense at Vietnam Defense Expo 2024
After graduation, Dr. Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai was assigned to the Center of Vietnam Military Medical University of VMMU. Initially, she was not really interested in the research environment because she wanted to directly examine and treat patients at the hospital. However, after seeing the role of modern traditional medicine research, she began to explore, research, and improve traditional medicine products for practical application. As a result, the drawbacks of traditional, simple dosage forms such as decoctions, single concentrates, and pills were gradually replaced by modern products. She gradually improved her professional capacity and effectively met the assigned tasks.
Over 15 years of dedication to the Center, Senior Lieutenant, Specialist Level II Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai is the principal investigator of one Ministry of Defense-level research project and one sub-national state-level project on researching the technological process of formulating GK1 hard capsules for treating chronic kidney failure from the GK1 herbal formula. Additionally, Dr. Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai participated in 10 research projects at various levels (four national-level, four Ministry of Defense-level, and two city-level projects) and co-author of 20 scientific articles domestically and internationally.
Among the published research projects, Senior Lieutenant Ngo Thi Tuyet Mai is most proud of the project titled “Research on the formulation and evaluation of the effect of enhancing heat tolerance and supporting the prevention and treatment of heatstroke for soldiers of the GN16 trial capsule from traditional medicine.” This is a Ministry of Defense-level project that Dr. Tuyet Mai directly proposed and led. The results have successfully modernized the capsule dosage form, allowing for experimental evaluation and testing on special forces soldiers training under harsh, hot conditions that can easily affect health. Research results show that the GN16 anti-heatstroke capsule has a modern dosage form, enhances the body’s heat tolerance, increasing adaptability to high-temperature changes in heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate. The product has contributed to enhancing the physical condition of officers as well as soldiers and helping them to be more alert and recover faster compared to those who do not use the product.
