In the field of scientific research, various departments, units, and research groups have successfully implemented numerous state-level and ministerial-level projects. The scientific research movement has been strongly promoted, resulting in many outstanding works, products, initiatives, and projects winning high awards, granted patents, and recognized as useful solutions. Many innovations have made significant contributions to education, diagnosis, and treatment. Notably, the publication of scientific research in reputable domestic and international journals indexed in the ISI/Scopus system has been actively strengthened, achieving a 21.4% increase compared to the resolution’s target.
In the field of treatment, the hospitals and institutes under VMMU examine nearly 700,000 patients annually and apply advanced techniques in diagnosis and treatment, thereby continuously improving the quality of healthcare services. Notably, VMMU was the first medical institution in Vietnam to successfully perform human organ transplants, marking a major breakthrough in national medicine. To date, kidney transplantation has become a routine procedure at VMMU , and the technique has been successfully transferred to the Lao People’s Army Central Military Hospital 103.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, VMMU promptly organized accelerated training and mobilized thousands of officers, nurses, trainees, and students to support pandemic prevention and control efforts across provinces and cities nationwide. Together with other military forces, VMMU doctors, medical staff, and students bravely entered epidemic hotspots, undeterred by hardships and dangers, willingly taking risks upon themselves to provide care and treatment for the people in affected areas. These noble deeds have left a deep and lasting impression on the hearts of the Vietnamese people.
Upholding the motto “Wherever there are difficulties, there are military doctors,” the medical officers of VMMU are present across the country and abroad whenever assigned. With compassion, medical ethics, and the sense of responsibility of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers,” doctors of Military Hospital 103 (VMMU ) serving at the Nam Yet Island Infirmary have overcome hardships and challenges, consistently fulfilling their duties. They have become a reliable source of support for soldiers carrying out their missions and for fishermen steadfastly safeguarding the sea.

Since 2018, under the assignment of the Ministry of National Defense, VMMU has coordinated with relevant agencies to establish and train Level-2 Field Hospitals to participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions in South Sudan. After completing their missions and returning home, officers and staff of the Level-2 Field Hospitals have continued to serve as the core force in organizing military medical units for disaster relief both domestically and internationally. Notably, medical teams of VMMU successfully fulfilled their missions when joining military medical forces to support earthquake relief efforts in Turkey (2023) and Myanmar (2025), thereby affirming the position of the country and the Vietnam People’s Army, while further enhancing the image of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” in the eyes of international friends. These achievements are vivid demonstrations of the effectiveness of education closely linked with practice, meeting the practical mission requirements that VMMU has carried out.
In the coming time, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of VMMU will focus on providing comprehensive leadership and direction in all areas of work, in which promoting the spirit of overcoming difficulties for the health of soldiers and the people will make practical contributions to building an exemplary, clean and strong Party organization, and developing VMMU into a regular, scientific, and modern institution capable of meeting mission requirements in the new situation, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State, the Army, and the people.
