Vietnam Military Medical University’s meeting in the South on the occasion of the 75th Traditional Day.
On 25th February in Hochiminh city, Vietnam Military Medical University organized a meeting in the South on the occasion of the 75th Traditional Day (10th March,1949 / 10th March, 2024).
Attending the meeting were comrades: Nguyen Thien Nhan, former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Tran Thi Trung Chien, former Central Committee member of the Party, former Minister of Health; Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of VMMU; comrades in the Party Committee and the Directorates of VMMU; leaders of departments, sectors, agencies, units, hospitals, and localities in the Southern region.

Over the past 75 years, the officers, soldiers, teachers, and students of VMMU (Ministry of Defence) have stood together, endured hardships, overcome every difficulty and challenge, simultaneously engaging in teaching and learning while actively participating in combat, curing and treating the wounded and sick soldiers, achieving numerous victories. They have contributed to the career of national liberation, the construction, and defence of the socialist homeland of Vietnam. Over the past 75 years, VMMU has trained over 100,000 doctors, military medical personnel, and healthcare workers, promptly meeting the combat tasks on various battlefields and in the healthcare of officers, soldiers, and civilians, as well as in the prevention and control of diseases. With outstanding achievements, VMMU has been honored three times by the Party and the State with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, as well as many other prestigious medals and badges.

Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of VMMU, expressed gratitude to the leadership, officials, lecturers, cadets, and soldiers of various generations, as well as the heroic martyrs who demonstrated intelligence, dedication, passion, creativity, active learning, research, teaching, fighting, dedication, and sacrifice for the development of the military medical sector and the healthcare system in Vietnam. They have contributed to establishing the heroic traditions of VMMU and building and defending the homeland.
Upholding the heroic traditions and keeping pace with the development of modern medicine worldwide, in recent years, VMMU has implemented numerous measures to focus on ensuring excellent infrastructure, enhancing the qualifications of staff and lecturers, and integrating education and training with scientific research. Currently, VMMU has 100% of its staff and lecturers holding postgraduate qualifications, including 53 professors, 234 associate professors, and several hundreds of doctoral-degree holders. There are also 19 People’s Physicians, including many leading experts and specialists in the field.

VMMU has researched, applied, and developed numerous new and modern medical techniques, improved the quality of diagnosis and treatment, pioneered in various fields nationwide. These include traditional medicine, stem cell cultivation, organ transplantation techniques, burn treatment, vascular intervention techniques, and more. This has transformed VMMU into a leading research, application, and training center in military medicine and medical science for both the military and the entire country. VMMU has achieved an advanced level in the region, provided excellent healthcare for officers, soldiers, and civilians in the new era.
